In a recent article by Consumer Reports, the perfect time to start selling your home is from April to June, and you’ll need to start considering what strategic changes you can do to help your home sell faster and for more. It is essential that Buyers be able to envision themselves in your home, and below are the top five ways to increase your home’s overall value to Buyers.

  1. Clutter

An immediate deterrent to Buyers is clutter. Whether it is too many knick-knacks or a crowded home with an odor, a Buyer cannot envision themselves in that type of environment. Take some time to de-clutter your home and even take down an over-abundance of personal effects.

  1. Kitchen Improvements

In real estate, the Kitchen is often the most important room in the home, according to most Buyers. Updating you kitchen does not have to completely break the bank, but you do need to make sure it’s appearance is appealing.  For a few hundred dollars, be sure to update the kitchen hardware, freshen the paint, and so on.

  1. Bathroom Improvements

Every Buyer wants to see that a home is well-maintained and properly taken maintained. When walking into a Bathroom, it is important that it appears very clean and polished. Simple changes, such as re-caulking the tub or re-grouting the floor, can prove very beneficial for its appearance. If you have an ample budget, you can consider also updating the counter tops, hardware, lighting fixtures, and mirrors.

There is no doubt that painting you home is the quickest way to freshen its look. But, you don’t have to re-paint the entire home! The exterior of your home needs to be presentable and manicured before it’s on the market. You can start simply with the basics by trimming overgrown bushes, keeping the lawn mowed, and mulching the beds. A good pressure wash is a great way to make your home look newer and more appealing to Buyers. Lastly, be sure to examine the exterior for any cracked siding or other damages that need attention.
