Houston has always been a leading city in the nation with its economic opportunities and innovative infrastructure. For 2015, there are some incredible visions that will transform that very groundwork of the city.
The first visionary effort begins with the plans to incorporate a natural public swimming spot for Houstonians to enjoy. Proposed by business entrepreneurs at Monte Carlo, the initial phase of the Houston project will be funded through the Kickstarter campaign that has already raised $30,000.
Next, as we have previously mentioned in another blog, Grand Sportz Texas is still projected as becoming the next “Astroworld” for Houstonians. The theme park will not only provide roller coasters and a water park, but will have 450,000 square feet of shopping areas, dining, RV parks, and even a minor league baseball stadium. The water park is planned to open in the spring of 2015, while the remaining construction will aim for completion at the end of 2015.
The Astrodome’s fate has been left undetermined since Houstonians voted against making it a multipurpose center. But, a new plan has been proposed by Urban Land Institute, would include ideas of making it into a farmer’s market, festival location, local museum, and more. The vision is a grand one and planners are eagerly awaiting approval for the project.
Lastly, Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects made a long-term proposal for Memorial Park, dreaming that bike and pedestrian trials will encompass the internal parts of the city. The makeover would consist of 50 or more miles of urban green space with a price tag of $100 million. Project funding and construction could be still twenty years away, but the vision is one that is strong.
