With the cold weather here to stay in Houston, TX, the humidity and cold air combine to make the winter a chilly one. Cold weather is notorious for drying out one’s skin during the cold months. We have put together a few friendly tips to help you kick the itch.
- After showering and your skin is still damp, immediately apply your lotion. Try using a product that has petroleum jelly or lanolin as it will help protect the exterior of your skin.
- Even though you can’t see the sunshine during the winter, that doesn’t mean it’s not affecting your skin. Be sure to apply a sunscreen lotion of SPF 15 or higher every day.
- If you want softer skin, you can add a cup of powdered milk to your bathwater. If you are having itchy skin, try putting a few cups of oatmeal in your bathwater.
- Avoid steaming hot showers at this can strip your skin of natural oils.
