Tis’ the season! The season to view the stunning seasonal light displays around the city! Grab a car with your family and friends and get in the Christmas spirit by participation in this festive tradition. VisitHouston.com outlines the BEST neighborhoods in Houston to see the most spectacular Christmas light displays.

River Oaks

This upscale neighborhood is popular year to year with its classic displays on these stately homes. With the lights cascading from the large oak trees, you won’t want to miss it! Be sure to see the lights on Inwood and Bellmead.

Prestonwood Forest

Since the 1970s, the residents of Prestonwood have been participating in the neighborhood’s annual Night of Lights that begins in mid-December. This friendly competition allows residents to compete in categories, such as best house and best block. Many homes have themed decorations, be sure to check it out!

Shepherd Park & Candlelight Park

These neighborhoods are known for large cutouts and whimsical displays! Many arches over the streets and large inflatable decorations make this a winter wonderland. For the best experience, start north of West 43rd street and on both sides of Ella Boulevard.

Woodland Heights

Every year, this area becomes a Christmas spectacular for the neighborhood’s annual “Lights in the Heights.” Displays stay up well after December, and awards bring out creativity among the presentations. Highland Street and Bayland Avenue have the largest concentration of lights.

Zoo Lights

Zoo Lights at the Houston Zoo is a yearly display that uses over 2 million lights to transform the zoo into a whimsical, winter wonderland! Festive holiday music, bright colorful lights, life-size animal sculptures, and twinkling lights in the large oak trees are just a few of the reasons Zoo Lights is a must see. Tickets available for purchase online or at the gate.

Highland Village, River Oaks Shopping Center & Uptown

Get ready for a coastal Christmas in this area of Houston! White lights cover the palm trees on Westheimer in Highland Village and the shopping center in River Oaks. Also along Post Oak near the Galleria, you can view a dazzling light display.
