Niche, a website hub containing college reviews and ranking systems, released its top picks for public universities for 2016. The comprehensive assessment completed by Niche takes into account key factors such as the strength of the academic program, the aptitude of professors, the quality of campus amenities, the general character of student life, as well as student reviews in an attempt to measure the overall excellence of the college experience. They were able to asses a little over 1,700 college across the United States.
Texas was able to pull the ranking for the No. 1 Public University in the United States. The University of Texas Austin gained this coveted spot by ranking an “A+” on a majority of assessment grades, and it received a 4.5 out of 5 for overall experience by students.
In fact, out of the top 100 rankings, six other universities in Texas were able to make the cut.

No. 62: University of Houston
No. 81: University of North Texas
No. 85: Texas State University
