The Katy Park & Ride System located off of I-10 and Grand Parkway is looking to expand service to better serve the growing demand. The Houston Metropolitan Transit Authority plans to work with NewQuest Development in an effort to develop a long-term solution to this issue.
With NewQuest involved, the Park & Ride could secure 435 more parking spaces, which would be an expansion of their 2007 lease that included 425 spots in the Cinemark Theatre. It is imperative that negotiations go well because the demand for spaces is far exceeding the current allotment.
For a long-term goal, the Metro Authority is planning to get a lease to build a parking garage in the area that would add space for 1,600 more vehicles.
