Bike for Mike Fulshear 2015

This past weekend, May 2nd, the Fulshear community took part in a meaningful event in honor of one of our cherished residents, Dr. Mike McCann.  Mike was an active community member in Fulshear, serving as the chairman of the Fulshear Planning Commission for years and dedicated his efforts to the improvement of our city.

Not only was Mike a family man, veterinarian, sailor, and more, he was also an avid bicyclist. Unfortunately for our community, we lost Mike in 2007 when he passed away after a very long, courageous fight with cancer. However, his passion and dedication for our community continue to make waves in Fulshear.

His wife, Carol McCann, has continued her husband’s fervor for Fulshear by hosting the “Bike for Mike” event every year since his passing. This year, the 7th Annual “Bike for Mike” event took place, with over 800 cyclists supporting the cause, along with numerous volunteers; all uniting to make the event a success.  Proceeds of this annual event go directly to benefit our community, just as Mike would have wanted.

We are thankful of Carol’s efforts and for all those that participated.  This is also a testament to the value placed on community support.   It’s the big hearts of our residents that makes Fulshear such an extraordinary place to live.
