According to a new forecast recently release by the National Geographic and Weather Administration, the Texas “rainy season” from last year is predicted to be even stronger through the next spring. El Nino is forecasted to have the strongest year on record coming!
El Nino takes place every four to ten years, and it is a global occurrence that affects weather around the world. For Texas, this typically means we will have cooler, yet wetter weather. In the research done by a NOAA climate research scientist, El Nino has a 90% chance of continuing into the Northern Hemisphere and an 80% chance that it will last until the next spring.
Because the May 2015 rains were record setting in Texas, the wettest month in our state’s history, these predictions can be quite daunting. We should expect El Nino to become more apparent in our autumn and winter season this year.
