Fort Bend Sheriff’s Office Working with NextDoor

As many of you know, crime has recently made itself known in the Fulshear, Texas area. Whether directly or indirectly, we were affected as a community by these heinous events. In recent news, there may be some steps being taken to keep neighborhoods- like Weston Lakes, Fullbrook, and Cross Creek Ranch- a safer place for everyone.

Nextdoor is a private neighborhood social network that residents use to share information with one another online. People on this network share pertinent information with one another or ask questions; It could be posts about community events or suggestions for a mechanic. Many of us here in Fulshear use Nextdoor! Well, the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office has recently announced that it plans to partner with Nextdoor in an effort to improve community safety.

By this partnership, the Sheriff’s office will be able to communicate online with neighborhoods on this social network. They hope to be able to post crime alerts, emergency notifications, safety precautions and more. However, the Sheriff’s office would not be able to access resident contact information or user content. The partnership suggests that it is designed to be an informative avenue to help Fort Bend’s residents stay safe.

As we wait and see how this plan develops, what are your thoughts as a Fulshear resident on this issue? Please feel free to leave comments on our blog to discuss your ideas.
