Fulshear’s First United Methodist Celebrates Anniversary

The First United Methodist Church of Fulshear has a special celebration coming up on November 9, 2014. The anniversary celebration on that Sunday will honor this church’s service to the Fulshear community over the past 170 years. The church has invited former ministers, and even descendants of some of the founding members.

In 1844, First United Methodist Church was originally known as “Union Chapel,” wherein it was located between Brookshire and Fulshear, in Pittsville. By 1851, Churchill Fulshear Jr. donated about 6 acres of tract land to become the new meeting grounds of the church in downtown Fulshear on Harris Street. And, this is where First United Methodist has remained for the last 120 years.

First United Methodist offers traditional services, as well as contemporary services. They have a deep desire to provide a community of faith to the areas of Fulshear and West Katy. With all the growth occurring in the Fulshear area, members of the church are excited to see their church community grow and reach more individuals.
