Houston Median Home Prices Continue to Rise

Despite the plunging oil prices, Houston is leading the way when it comes to rising home price listings. Although this is expected to settle out, a recent report from the site FindTheHome shows that median home listings are increasing in prices more rapidly than any other place in the country.

Specifically in Houston, the prices have risen 19.91% since last year, while Texas overall has risen 6.47%. To put this a little more into perspective, the nation average listing price is $231,543, and Houston itself has a median listing price of $266,927.

Interestingly, Houston still remains quite the Seller’s market, which has been attributed to statistics showing that higher priced homes are selling more quickly than lower prices homes. The home market in Houston depicts that bigger price tags matter.
