Katy’s New Cane Island to be a Power Drain?

If you reside in the Fulshear area, including Cross Creek Ranch, Weston Lakes, or Fullbrook, you are not stranger to the continuous expansions happening in Katy. Centerpoint energy reports that power usage in Katy has increased by six percent for the past five years, and experts do not predict that this momentum will slow down anytime soon. The area between Katy and Brookshire, around Highway 6, is an area of particular residential growth, but even more notably as a place of commercial growth.

News of Rise Development’s Cane Island, a new community development, is circulating, although no construction has begun. Rise is currently consulting with Centerpoint to ensure they have enough reliable energy sources to meet the community’s demands. According to the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, there will be four power plants to open during the summer, while a couple of others are undergoing considerable improvements. When it’s all said and done, Texas will have an additional 2,153 megawatts of power, which will certainly aid in the increased demand in the Katy area.
