Local Fulshear Restaurateur sells location to a Native New Yorker

Here in Fulshear, Texas we are pretty familiar with one of our restaurant neighbors, Ray’s Grill, which is owned by Ray Salti. Apart from Ray’s Grill and a successful chain of Pepperoni’s pizza in Houston, Salti also owns Sorrel Urban Bistro on W. Alabama in Houston. Right before the new year of 2015, Salti will be handing over this restaurant space to new owner and a new flare for Houstonians.

Ziggy Gruber, a native New Yorker, plans to take Salti’s place and create DuBrow’s New York Grill, inspired by a famous New York restaurant that had been in the business since 1929. The last of the original Dubrow’s chain eventually closed its doors in the late 1980’s, but Gruber is thrilled to be able to bring his childhood restaurant memories to Texas.

Gruber is no stranger to the Houston area, as he has owned Kenny & Ziggy’s New York Delicatessen near the Galleria for fifteen years. He has high plans for his new restaurant, a place where you could get a deli sandwich but also a really high-end steak dish. Some of the menu items on the agenda include: Brooklyn patty melt, fish and chips, lobster Louie salad, and the finest of desserts. Gruber also plans to make breakfast available to customers all day.

Gruber can’t wait to bring a New York flare to his second hometown of Houston. Renovations will begin on January 1, 2015. Keep an eye out for Dubrow’s New York Grill on social media to stay in the know for the grand opening!
