Nature Overlook in Cross Creek Ranch

Cross Creek Ranch, a community in the city of Fulshear, will soon be opening a new boardwalk and nature overlook where residents will be able to see various birds, wildlife, and plant life. The new overlook is scheduled to open within the next few weeks, thanks to a generous grant from the Cross Creek Ranch Community Foundation.

The boardwalk will overlook the community’s fifty acre pond, Polishing Pond, which has created a sustainable environment for countless turtles and fish, while it has also become a migratory stop for other wildlife. This location, which is roughly the size of 48 football fields, will provide a great spot for both causal spectators and nature aficionados.

Along with its Polishing Pond, the Cross Creek Ranch community has Flewellen Creek, a project considered to be the most aspiring ecological restoration efforts in west Houston. Meandering about 150 acres through this Fulshear neighborhood, the creek now covers 83 acres with more than 4,500 newly planted trees, creating another haven for native vegetation and wildlife.
