Starting the first week of September, first time drivers will be required to complete a two-hour program that reviews the dangers of distracted driving. With all of the technology changes we have seen over the past decade, the Texas Department of Public Safety considers it to me imperative to promote awareness of distracted driving to teen drivers.
The Impact Teen Driver Program is now required for any first-time driver who completes the driver education course to get their license, including the parent-taught driver education course. The program will be taken after the completed classroom and behind the wheel hour requirements. In order to take their written exam, they will have to present this ITTD completion certificate.
